I thought I'd start a new thread ffor updates rather than hijack the other thread. Dyrdahl posted the fast time of the day on Friday. Here are a couple shots:

Day 2 is over and it was another cold day. Overnight lows were -24 but it did warm up to a balmy -6. Lows tonight should be approaching -30...

Dyrdahl posted the fastest time for the second consecutive day. Two day totals have Dyrdahl at the top followed by Davis, Hanson, Hyde, and Chad Lian. Complete results are posted on the USCC website. It was a bad day for injuries. Curt Peterson broke his leg and was airlifted to Fargo for surgery. Appearently he hit a washout on the up & down road. From what I understand, the washouts in that area are deep and nasty, without any lip or any other way to try to jump over.

In other news, Bunke probably won't finish. He had coolant issues this morning but got it fixed. During the repair period, a bearing issue cropped up and now its hammering 'louder than a cold diesel'.
Ekre rolled his sled early and broke off the brake lever. He finished the day by using the stubby little park brake.
Jeff Klein rolled it early and took out his entire hood and windshield. He continued on but froze his fingers quite literally... the tips of his fingers are black. Paul Anderson hit a deer. Paul's sled looked to be in good shape - just a tuft of hair on the side panel.

For those out there that would like to listen to the race coverage, the radio station in thief river has the broadcast online. Here's the link for more info: http://www.usccracing.com/news08/i500radiolive.php

The ingition switch went out in my car Friday morning. I have a 5-speed so I was able to push start it with the help of a few teams.

Special thanks to the following drivers & their mechanics:
